Ghost Radio 2.2 for Android (Google Play and Amazon)

An entirely new Control Panel has been added to the Ghost Radio app, which allows you to change various key parameters in real-time:

  • Switch between different types of noise: White, Pink and Brown.
  • Change the rate and volume of the noise.
  • Control the sensitivity of the analysis algorithm.

And more…

The new version also includes the following:

  • Better analysis logic.
  • The self-calibration now only has to reach 100% once every time you start the app.
  • New real-time visualizations of the sound: Voicegram and Waveform (tap on the visualization screen to toggle between the modes).
  • Higher resolution on all the screens, which makes texts a lot easier to read.

And numerous other improvements and bug fixes!

Ghost Radio – New features

What a week! This week, the new Android version of Ghost EVP Radio was published. What we didn’t know was that it contained a really nasty bug, which made the app crash on certain devices. We are really sorry about this. Nobody likes an unstable app.

Working (literaly) round the clock to fix it lead to a number of updates. With the latest one, v1.1.7, we are pretty confident that the problem is solved at last. Please note that it can take up to 24 hours before you can upgrade.

If you still encounter crash problems on your Android device, our recommendation is to first check that you have v1.1.7 and if so, to restart your device. We have written a small guide on how to handle crash issues on our support site.  If you continue to experience problems, please try the Low-end Device Mode.

iOS and Amazon

Amazon Store users will be able to upgrade within a couple of days and the same version will be released for iOS as well, hopefully in just a couple weeks, depending on how long it takes for the Apple iTunes team to review it.

Ghost EVP Radio v1.1.7 for Android

Voice to text analysis

One of the features that most users want is some kund of textual representation of what’s being said. We have worked with this for some months now and decided to implement it in this version. Please note that it is still in an experimental stage: some of the speech may only be partially translated and some not at all. And remember, that it only works when the app has been fully calibrated. We still think it is better than before. Please give us feedback of what you think!

Support for additional languages

Now our friends from Slovakia, Turkey and the Czech Republic can use the app in their own language. Please tell us if there is a language you would like the app to support!

Turn off the TV static

Some of you have made us aware of the fact that you are annoyed by the generated signal static that is visualized on the main TV screen. We decided to implement a simple way of turning it off: When the radio is on, and you want to disable the static, just tap once on the TV screen. Tapping again will turn on the static again.

Open recordings in other apps

It is now possible to open the recordings in other apps by clicking on this icon. Please note that you need to have at least one app that can handle either AMR or WAVE files for this to work.

Extended file information

On the recordings screen, file sizes are now also shown. And to get even more information, click on the info icon:

Better speech quality

When the app is warmed up and fully calibrated, the speech should now be easier to understand. This is something we are constantly improving.

Smaller app size for Android 5, 6 and 7+

The app file size for Android 5 devices is now 75% smaller (~6 MB)!

The future

We are working on a number of really exciting new features that will be released during this year. Here’s a sneak peak:

  • Advanced sound analysis that will make it a lot easier to analyze recorded sound, by visualization and manipulation, including changing the playback speed etc.
  • Autorecording, which enables you to only record the moments when something is actually being said.
  • And more…

Feedback

What drives us is feedback from you. You are welcome to use all channels: our support email, the in-app feedback, our support website or by giving us constructive ratings/reviews in the app stores.

Remember that we have a Knowledgebase on our support site, where the most common questions are answered along with small guides that hopefully help you to use the app in the best possible way.

Ghost Radio – New Android version!

November

First of all, I want to thank everybody for all the constructive and postive feedback!

The new Android version (1.1.0) of Ghost Radio was just released on Google Play and Amazon app stores. Please note that it can take up to 24 hours before you can upgrade.

Now we are focusing on the new version for iOS, and hope to be able to release it in the Apple Appstore in the coming weeks.

The new version includes a lot of the features that you have suggested:

Recording using the device microphone

Many users have asked for this, and we listened. From now on, the microphone of your device is used to record sessions. This means that everything you say during a session also will be heard on the recordings. If you like or don’t like this feature, please tell us!

Ten times longer recordings

The recording limits have been increased to 10, 20, 30 and 50 minutes!

New audio file format

Before, recordings were saved as low quality wav files, but the new version uses AMR format. AMR is the native audio format for Android. The files are really small compared to wav files; A 50 minute recording is just over 5MB!

New media player

When playing back recordings, the new media player lets you fast forward and rewind. This feature only applies to recordings that have been created using the new version of the app. Previously recorded files, still use the legacy media player, due to compatibility reasons.

Low-end Device Mode

This switch, which can be found on the lower end of the Settings screen, makes the app start inperformance mode. This is suitable for devices with weaker processing capability. Try it if you experience sluggish performance when using the app on your device. Low-end device mode also drains less battery, which makes it suitable for Ghost hunting field trips. When this setting is changed, the app needs to be completely shut down and restarted. The app remembers your last choice, so you won’t have to do this every time you use the app, only when you change the mode. The Exit App button allows you to shut down the app.

Old media player problems

It is worth mentioning that the media player in previous versions always loaded the full audio file into memory before playing it back. This lead to some problems for users using certain devices, and we are really sorry about that. Remember that you can always use the share feature to email recordings to yourself and then listen to them in another (full featured) media player either on your device or on your computer.

Other improvements

We constantly monitor app crashes being sent from users, and in this version, we’ve (hopefully) fixed most of them. If you continue to experience problems, please try the Low-end Device Mode mentioned above.

Apart from the things listed above, we also improved a lot of things here and there, in order to give you the best experience possible.

We’ve just launched a knowledgebase on our support site, where the most common questions will be answered along with small guides that hopefully help you to use the app in the best possible way: https://paranormalsoftware.com/support/kb/index.php
